The sisters in my pad...
Aloha !
Another week down and getting more and more comfortable with the area :) yayy!
This week we saw some definite miracles- After 3 weeks of meeting with Theresa, she wants to get baptized on the 27th! God is literally preparing people for us and directing us to them ♡ we also challenge another lady we are teaching to be baptized and she said yes too!! The work is moving!
I hit my 6 month mark on Tuesday and that was exciting! Crazy to think a year from now I will be home!! The sisters in Honolulu came over with balloons and candy and it was so cute ♡As a sister missionary it feels like you have 4 birthdays: 6 months, 9 months, a year, and your actual birthday Haha. So fun!
I got to visit Pearl Harbor last P-day that was a neat experience. I thought a lot about my Great Grandpa, Max Burggraaf who was stationed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. On that Sunday, he wasn’t in uniform on his ship (the U.S.S. Nevada) but instead was in a suit, and on leave to go to the to attend a Waikiki Sacrament Meeting Service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The moment they heard the news, the sailors rushed back to the harbor. I thought about so many military men and women and their families- past and present….So grateful for their service and sacrifice.
On a spiritual note, something that really stuck with me this week from a mission training was Christ's teaching in Mosiah 4:27: "...for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength..." God loves any effort, He doesn't expect us to run ourselves into the ground trying to be everything all of the time. He asks that we are diligent and earnestly trying our best to become more like Him and to keep His commandments. So when you find yourself overwhelmed or feeling inadequate, remember that God loves you just the way you are, He didn't come to bring the righteous, " but the sinners unto repentance ". He knows, He understands, and He loves you regardless!! Keep going!!
Soaking up all the Hawaii I can, who knows how long until the next chapter of my mission. I will be stoked to get travel news- but also heartbroken to leave my ohana in the Hawaiian Islands
