♥ from Sorella Miller week 51 (8-18-21)

Aloha

This week we celebrated Ferragosto! If Italy was my home, I think this would be one of my favorite times of year because pretty much the entire country takes the whole month of August off work and goes to either the beach or to the mountains. (The actual holiday is August 15th) but everyone being gone makes missionary work in August a little tricky. The closer we get to September, the busier it will be (and the cooler, it was 38C (102 F) this week, yikes!)  I am excited!

On Saturday our ward had an activity in Brescia, this gorgeous little mountain town about 2 hours away. Lago d'Iseo (the lake there) was beautiful and the activity was fun! I'm learning that most Italian stereotypes aren't actually stereotypes hah! They had a BBQ for lunch and grilled meatballs and sausage links with pasta and French bread on the side! I'm telling ya, it is totally like a movie.

I had to bear my testimony in Italian this Sunday & so relieved to be done! I thought I was afraid of public speaking in English, this was 10x scarier- but I'm so thankful that the Lord qualifies those He calls! I'm still lost 75% of the time but understanding a little more everyday :).

I came across a quote this week by Gordon B Hinckley in a devotional that has really impacted my prayers & perspective:
"I complained I had no shoes until I saw the man with no feet" Sometimes I get so caught up in the asking (and complaining, although I'm not proud to admit it) that I don't thank my Heavenly Father for all that He does for me every single day. I'm so thankful for repentance and am striving this week to be extra grateful, because there is SO much to be grateful for ♡

Hope you're all enjoying summertime & making the most of every minute! Love y'all!

Amore,
Sorella Miller
